I’ve never been so pleased to see a vicar!

Giles Fraser, who is leading this morning’s service at St Paul’s Cathedral this morning, just arrived and ordered the police off the church steps. To us protesting occupiers who have weathered a cold night he proffered a welcome and a warning. We are welcome to stay he said. He added that he had enjoyed our drums last night but warned that any moment the church bells would ring. He said, “your drums were very loud last night but our bells will be truly spectacular!”

He also confirmed that St Paul’s owns land around the church up to the kerb. What a great start to day 2. Today we’ll organise a rota to maintain a presence here and hold the space, amongst other issues to be decided. The London Occupation is here to stay!

Last night we had 95 tents and dozens sleeping out. All told about 500 saw the night through. It’s going to especially interesting on Monday morning, when the stock exchange people come into work. Come and join us. Pop up tents are recommended.

Thought I’d awoken at a festival

… But the scenery is a little grander than normal. the occupation goes on strong. The police will let people join us any time. Several hundred are going through the night. Just up for a night time stroll then back to me tent. There’s about 50 tents. A very peaceful scene. Just the kind of turnout the Church of England would love to get every sunday morning…
