Yesterday’s hearing in the High Court was a case management conference. The purpose of these hearings is to set up a fair trial, with timetables for filing and service of paperwork. No substantive issues were adjudicated on. It is highly unusual for parties to attend case management conferences but yesterday a number of people from Occupy London’s camp by the London Stock Exchange attended.
Although I have seen our notes of the hearing, since I didn’t write them I do not wish to write them up here in full, lest I inadvertantly create an error. I was not present in court myself. However, it is appears that the High Court declared the following timetable for the proceedings.
- 2:00pm, Friday 25th November 2011: single defendant to be declared to represent the unincorporated association claim brought against. This defendant will not be liable for costs, should the claimant’s case succeed.
- 12th December 2011: deadline for filing evidence.
- 15th December 2011: deadline for skeleton arguments.
- 19th December 2011: trial commences with a time estimate of three to four days
