Here’s a helping hand for any other budding electricians: a free online mock exam for the EAL VRQ Level 2 Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installers. Passing that exam is a major hurdle on the way to becoming a Part P electrical installer. It isn’t the hardest exam in the world but it isn’t completely simple either. All exams become easier with exam practice.
When pay for a course to be trained to pass one of these exams, you also pay for some mock exam papers (unless you are being seriously ripped off). Here’s me handing out the help for free. I hope you find this useful. There’ll be more to come over the next two to three days.
I’ve made much effort to ensure that this mock exam is accurate and up to date. If you find anything which has become out of date, please post a comment. If you find this mock exam useful, please feel free to post comments anyway! I’m not connected with any electrical education provider – this is just me sharing the knowledge. I paid for the knowledge and now I’m giving it away. Spirit of the internet and all that… … you still have to pass the real exam if you want the qualification!

Very good, this is a very helpfull bit of info! Feel Mitch better now.
really good mock exam, but on question 8 according to my collage the answer should be C but the answer that’s correct is answer A. did anyone else have this problem?
Both the questions and the answers are randomised so, sorry, but your comment won’t make any sense to anyone else. Unless they also catch the same question at number 8 and it has the same order of answers.
Pleased everyone’s found these mock exams so useful. I’ll try to add some more shortly. Good luck and always remember, ‘there’s no neutral in a switch line’!
Thank you, this is extremely helpful and very much appreciated, I’m wondering if Andrew jones was referring to question “An electrical services trunking penetrates the floor separating different habitable dwellings in a block of flats. What needs to be provided?” The answer in your mock was “MICCV fire rate cable in the trunking” although on my course the exact same question came up in a mock exam and the answer was “A full height enclosure of the trunking in each flat.” As yet I’ve been unable to confirm the correct answer in the building regs
Yes Ryan, that’s the question that I was questioning about..and guess what, I had it in my exam. Never mind tho I passed it thanks to the two mock exams as a few questions popped up that was not what I studied.good luck to you if you haven’t taken it yet.
