The wicker woman of 2012

Just cooked my first meal at home for three months. It was wonderful. Not much of a post today though, because I attended an early Summer Solstice party last night, as I do at this time every year. The plan had been just to spend the afternoon and early evening but my wife agreed, at the last minute, to me staying and her getting back to our recommissioned home, to enjoy some creature comforts before work on Monday.

I had few creature comforts due to taking neither a tent nor a sleeping bag to the pre-Solstice Party. As luck would have it, a family I have got to know through these occasions graciously gave me the porch of their tent and various other people rallied round with offers of bedding. It would have been a fine night’s sleep, had it not commenced at six o’ clock in the morning. Meh.

As per usual the collective built a wicker being. It was the biggest and the best yet. Since last year’s offering was mostly male, this year the feminine touch was applied. We wrote our wishes on little pieces of coloured card, tied them up in ribbon and hid them in the pyre, to be send skywards. Unfortunately, I had to be briefly off site when the fire was lit but here’s the wicker witch before she made her firey exit.
