Comments Policy

I moderate all comments which appear on this blog. Sometimes it takes me some time. Published comments are not necessarily endorsed by me. Generally, I do not publish comments which are:

• offensive without being informative
• spam
• from trolls
• more than 1700 characters ~ this is about enough for 250 words. If you want to write more, I suggest you use another blog and link to the post you want to comment on. If you use a WordPress blog, your link will appear automatically in the comment thread.
• comments which appear to attempt to circumvent the previous rule by continuing with points already made in a previous comment

I reserve the right to edit comments as I see fit. Generally, I do not do this. An example of when I might do this is when someone leaves a comment which has a link which could compromise the viewer’s security. Once you have commented on a post, I reserve the right to publish that comment permanently.

If you make a sensible comment, I may reply sensibly. If you write nonsense, I might mock. Please try to write your longer comments in good English with a proper paragraph structure. You may prefer to draft your comment elsewhere first and then post it once you have finalised what you want to say.

Links in comments are welcome but links to the Brighton Argus, sites behind pay walls, offensive sites or closed proprietary networks (for example, Facebook, including its public pages) will be deleted. If I’m not in the mood for editing, I’ll just delete the whole comment with that sort of link. Those categories of web site stand against the free web in all its glory. This blog will not be used to encourage them.
